Made in 1943 these are a classic pair of wartime battleship binoculars with 15x80 magnification. Predominantly used by the Japanese Navy who were more reliant on optics for surveillance rather than the developing radar detection systems.

The binoculars are finished with a protective bronze coating on top of the cast aluminium body. The arch slotted tilt lock mechanism and locking handle are solid bronze which is polished to a high lustre. The inserts that connect the Porro prism housing to the main barrels and also seat the connecting bar for pupil alignment are cast brass & bronze. They are precision machined and polished to a mirror finish.

The binoculars are paired with a wooden field tripod of the same era with bronze and aluminium fittings.

The binoculars are supplied with the original box which shows the date of manufacture '1943'.
