DESCRIPTION
Salvaged from an electrical substation yard in Lancashire, this striking 1950s adjustable industrial ceiling light was originally manufactured in Britain—most likely by Benjamin Electric Ltd, one of the UK’s leading mid-century industrial lighting producers.
Designed for durability in demanding electrical and engineering environments, this light fixture features a high-gloss black vitreous enamel shade paired with a clean white enamel reflector inside. The finish retains a subtle worn patina, a testament to decades of service in the industrial heartland of the North West.
A distinctive feature of this model is the angular steel yoke bracket, allowing the shade to be tilted and locked in position using the original wing-nut adjusters. This mechanism made them ideal for controlling light direction across machinery, workbenches and external substation areas. The characterful right-angle conduit arm with brass compression fitting remains intact, adding to the authenticity of the design.
Now fully restored and rewired, this versatile ceiling light works beautifully over kitchen islands, bar counters, dining areas, studios or commercial interiors, offering a refined industrial aesthetic with genuine historical provenance.
Rewired and fitted with new CE Certified or UL listed electrical components and supplied with ceiling hanging kit that allows for a drop of 1 meter from the ceiling to the bottom of the fixture. If a different drop length is required please get in touch.
