1950s Black Enamel Caged Industrial Pendant Lights

Beginning life in the nationalised factories of 1950s former Czechoslovakia, these heavy-duty industrial pendants were originally manufactured for agricultural and processing facilities in the country’s northwest—part of a vast network of state-run industries that characterised the post-war Eastern Bloc. Built to withstand dust, impact and constant use, they embody the rugged, over-engineered approach to lighting that defined the period.

Each pendant features a robust black-and-white enamelled steel shade, paired with a cast-iron oxidised gallery and a distinctive glass well encased in a protective steel cage. The glass wells retain their original manufacturer’s markings, a rare detail that speaks directly to their provenance and mid-century production history.

Salvaged in complete form and sensitively restored, these lights retain the honest patina, surface texture and age-appropriate wear accumulated through decades of industrial service. The enamel shades show subtle character marks, while the cast galleries have had a bespoke oxidised finish applied by hand.
