DESCRIPTION
These original Thorlux pendants started life in an electrical substation in the industrial heartland of the Northwest of England. Each light bears subtle marks and patina that tell the story of its working past. Featuring a grey vitreous enamel finish, these shades were fired at high temperatures to create a tough, glossy surface that resists corrosion and wear — a hallmark of quality British manufacturing.
The angled shade design was originally developed to cast directional light onto workbenches, control panels, and machinery in industrial environments, providing focused illumination exactly where it was needed. Today, this practical detail makes the lights perfect for task lighting in kitchens, restaurants, and retail environments, combining heritage charm with modern functionality.
Founded in 1936 in Redditch, Worcestershire, Thorlux quickly became one of Britain’s most respected lighting manufacturers. Their fixtures were widely used across factories, workshops, and public buildings throughout the mid-20th century, admired for their durability and precision engineering.

Import Duty & Tax
Please note that orders delivered outside of the UK will be subject to custom import & duties. All imported commercial goods are subject to customs duties and taxes based on their HS Code tariff classification.
The importer/customer is responsible for paying the duty & tax. Loomlight are not responsible for these costs. We use DHL or FedEx for worldwide deliveries and they require payment of this tax before they can deliver your order.

RETURNS
Returns
If you wish to return a product, please let us know within 14 days of delivery at hello@loomlightdesign.com and we shall organise that with you. Please inspect your order upon receipt and contact us immediately if the item is defective or damaged so that we can resolve the matter.
For a refund, items must be unused, returned in the original packaging and in a re-saleable condition. We will refund the product price only, once we have fully processed the return. Return shipping is at the cost of the customer.
